Ape Escape: Pumped and Primed, known in Japan as Gacha Mecha Stadium Saru Battle (ガチャメカスタジアム サルバト~レ), is a video game developed by SCE Japan Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment in Japan and that publisher and Ubisoft in North America exclusively for PlayStation 2. It is the fourth title in the Ape Escapefranchise. It was never released in Europe, despite being advertised in the UK and Australia.
Gameplay[edit]
Spike, Natalie, Casi and the Professor join the High-tech Tournament, a virtual world. Helga, the previous champion, is on an important mission to find the disk based on her father's research, hidden in the trophy. Unlike the other Ape Escape games, this game is more of a party game, similar to Mario Party and Sonic Shuffle. The game consists of a series of competitive minigames using various vehicles and gadgets from previous Ape Escape games, such as battling underwater using submersibles, racing on foot, and collecting the most coins. The story mode is broken up into different tournaments with 3 to 4 players, where 1 to 2 players must finish at least 1st place to pass.

The monkey madness continues as has announced that it will be releasing in North America. Developed by Japan and originally titled Gachamecha Stadium Saru Batouru, the game features characters from the series as they compete in a variety of different sports. With gameplay for one to four players, the title is set to ship to stores in October. The original Ape Escape came out in 1999 and featured some original use of the dual-analog controller. By swinging the sticks around, players could attack with a light saber, row a boat, or even box monkeys.
Ape Escape 2 came out last year to some critical acclaim even if it had some lackluster sales. Hopefully, Pumped & Primed will bring some of the manic magic back and introduce some new gamers to the wacky world where monkeys reign supreme. Pumped & Primed will feature two different game modes.
Story mode will feature 44 levels and eight boss battles for one or two players to compete in. If gamers want to play with more friends, there's the Versus mode where up to four players can compete in the 21 pre-made tournaments.
If these aren't enough, gamers can create their own tournaments. Included in the game will be a wide variety of characters that include Natalie, Spike, the Professor, and Jake as well as some new characters. Each character will come complete with his or her own set of special gadgets. The Stunclub, Slingshot, RC Car, Dash Hoop and more will all be featured in the game as well. Check back later for some more information about Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed.
For now, check out some new and from the Japanese version.
